He's back on local television! Morgan King has joined Amy Lynn to host the new, live talk/entertainment show called Daytime Tri-Cities on WJHL-TV weekday mornings at 10am. And he says he's more than excited to be back on air. "I believe that 'Daytime Tri-Cities' will allow Amy Lynn and I the chance to showcase the wonder that truly is Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia."

Morgan King was born in Kingsport one record breaking hot day in June... and that record still stands today - 94 degrees. At 5 years old his parents moved their family to Ohio for a job opportunity and then on to Florida. King moved back to Kingsport with his wife Linda in 1979.

Morgan's first job was a bagger at a grocery store in Daytona Beach, his sister ran the cash register and he says, "We made a good team!" From there he's done a little bit of everything. The most unique job he's had was an apprentice harness maker with the Amish. But that's not all! He's also held other jobs including a meat cutter with a grocery chain in Ohio, working at a steel mill, a barber, a machinist, a retail sales clerk, a mall Santa, worked at a print shop and many more. He enjoys learning new things and took advantage of his youth to do so.

His broadcast career began at WPRQ, the Tri-Cities first Contemporary Christian Radio Station. After that he went to WTFM radio then to WKPT-TV as a weather anchor/news anchor. He did some fill in weather for WCYB in Bristol and WLOS in Asheville, NC.

On television he's inspired by folks who talk with you, not to you. Morgan believes, "The person you are watching on the 'tube' should feel like your friend. That's what I've always strived for and will continue to do on 'Daytime Tri-Cities'." King continues, "When Amy and I are talking, the viewer at home will feel they are the third person in our conversation, not just a by stander. I want them to feel involved in the show."

Morgan's wife Linda is a pediatric RN at Holston Valley Hospital. Their son Benjamin was formerly a director at WJHL-TV but is now a TV engineer in Phoenix, AZ. Their daughter Liza and her husband Devin are in Atlanta but will be moving soon as he begins 3 years of law school.

In Morgan's spare time, he likes to ride bikes with his wife, he adds, "preferably down hill or horizontally but never up hill." Morgan and his wife find themselves at the beach as often as possible and claims their life would not be as sweet without their pet schnauzer, Allie.

Morgan's excited about talking with you! You can email him at morgan@daytimetricities.com.

Television Host You Most Want To Be Like:
Believe it or not, it was before my time but 'Tonight Show' host Steve Allen was talented in so many ways!
I enjoyed the Today show way back in the day when the hosts were Jane Pauley (I still have a crush on her), Tom Brokaw, Willard Scott and Gene Shallot. They seemed so close to each other and therefore pulled us into their relationship as well. Coffee just didn't taste the same without them.

Ultimate Interview:
Martin Short... have you ever seen him on Late Night with David Letterman? It's the ultimate experience not only from a host's perspective but to watch as well.

What You're Typically Doing 5 Minutes Before You Go On-Air:
Of course making sure that all of "Amy Lynn's" needs are met!
I try not to stress... OK _ stress isn't in my vocabulary. I like to have everything done so I can chill before going on the air. I think that if our viewers have made it through their hectic morning then they would just like to kick back for 30 minutes. I want to be there enjoying a cup of coffee with them.

What You're Typically Doing 5 Minutes After You Go Off-The-Air:
Of course making sure that all of "Amy Lynn's" needs are met...again!
Then hang around our cool new set and think about what's coming up the rest of the day and what I need to do to get ready the next show.

Favorite Way To Spend A Day Off:
Saturdays are good for an early morning visit to the farmer's market for some fresh veggies and good conversation. Back home to have coffee on the front porch with my wife Linda. And let the rest of the day play itself out. .

Favorite Color:
Black... it's slimming you know~

Favorite Day Of The Week and Why:
Sunday- I'm up early and head to Cornerstone Church where I play bass guitar in the church orchestra for two services. Then an afternoon bike ride on the Green Belt and then it's back to the front porch to watch a colorful East Tennessee sunset..and look forward to another week of Daytime Tri-Cities!

Your Motto:
"If you don't have anything nice to say... Text me!"
