A court decision to make TennCare pay for one woman’s treatment, could lead to insurance funding of treatments for other rare diseases.
Jeanie Deason of Dickson, Tennessee has an extremely rare condition that causes her limbs to become hard and immobile.
Deason has fought for two years to gain TennCare coverage for a treatment that has improved mobility in some patients with the disorder.
Last month, a Davidson County judge ruled that the treatment is medically necessary.
TennCare administrators say they will not appeal the court decision.
