LONDON (AP) - A large British study suggests there are four
steps to add almost an extra decade and a-half to you life.
To live longer, the Cambridge researchers say don't smoke, eat
lots of fruit and vegetables, exercise regularly and drink alcohol
in moderation.
The study tracked about 20,000 people in the U.K. and calculated
that those who adopted the four habits lived 14 years longer on
average. According to the study published in the Public Library of
Science Medicine journal, the benefits were apparent regardless of
people's weight or social class.
A public health expert at the World Health Organization says the
study is "an important piece of work," which will help convince
people that changing just a few factors adds years to a person's
life.
