Happy Valley HS Offers Hair-Help to Cancer Patients
Some Happy Valley High School teachers and students are using their hair to help women fighting cancer. The high school personnel plan to donate their hair to make wigs for cancer patients. There’s a big hair cut party scheduled Thursday at 3:30 at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City on State of Franklin. There the hair donors will get a professional cut and style at the Austin Springs Spa.

Person Bitten By Rabid Bat In Sullivan County
Health Officials say a Sullivan County resident was bitten by a rabid bat last week.

Bus Tour Fights Back Against Cancer
Cancer claimed the lives of more than 12,000 people across Tennessee in 2007. Now a team of volunteers are taking a tour bus across 48 states to raise cancer awareness. Colorectal, lung, skin and breast cancer are the most common cancer cases in the Tri-Cities.
The Fight Back Express tour is holding a bus signing Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 am in front of the Double Tree Hotel near the mall in Johnson City.

JMH Holds Emergency Blood Drive Friday At Barter Stage II
Blood donations are in the red at Johnston Memorial Hospital’s Blood Bank. The Abingdon-based medical facility is holding and emergency blood drive 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday at the Barter Theater Stage II on Main Street. The blood bank is running dangerously low on critical blood types O+, O- and A-. JMH officials say the upcoming holiday week has sparked a critical need for blood donations.
