Some campers found themselves trapped along the Nolichucky River Wednesday morning.
Steady rain showers caused the Nolichucky River to overflow, leaving campers in a Unicoi County campground with no road out.

Officials had to block off Jones Branch Road because the excess waters quickly covered up a majority of the roadway. Jones Branch is the only road that leads to the Nolichucky Gorge Campground.

Unicoi County officials say campers will not be able to drive out of the campground till the water recedes. This is expected to happen early Wednesday afternoon.
