Ham radio operators in the Tri-Cities test their skills to be ready during an emergency.
It’s National Amateur Radio Week and Saturday several Tri-Cities ham radio operators were conducting tests at Winged Deer Park in Johnson City and communicating with others all over the world.
The goal is to make sure these “hams” are ready to help out during an emergency or natural disaster.
Ham radio operators can help to communicate with others during times when there is no power or telephone service.
