Robin Quillen, President of Ferrel Friends in Greene County, is mom to a lot of Greene County’s animals. She sees first-hand what can happen when animals are not spayed and neutered. “I have a dog down here that I picked up yesterday that was going to be euthanized last Friday. Big light blue eyes, beautiful animal, sweet,“ said Quillen. She says the county has way too many stray animals. Greene County Animal Control says it has picked up the most animals ever this year. Many of these animals end up in Quillen’s care. For that reason, she is working to pass a law mandating pet owners get their pets spayed or neutered. But, not everybody likes the idea. Mandating additional expense to pet owners will increase the number of homeless pets due to not having the money so they drop them off and also could lead to an increase in price for vet services and the low cost spay/neuter is dangerous to pets, many have died during the procedure, proper testing before the procedure can cost up to $350 or more otherwise you take a risk of the pet not surviving.
This can and will increase the homeless pet problem not decrease it.

While i agree that to spay and nuter your pet is a good idea it should not be a law. Its getting to the point to where there is a law for everything. I cant let a fart without it becoming a federal case or a law. Im sick of a law being passed over everything. I know that stray pets are a big problem but forcing citizens to spay or neuter is not right. Every law that is passed seems to help some higher income bracket class of people. In this case it will benefit the Vets. In turn if this becomes a law the vets will see dollar signs which they will raise their spay and neuter prices to profit off this law which will in turn have people breaking the law or worse yet setting the animals off. This law if passed will not work. Use your brain woman. If you have one. It will create more of a problem that what you have now, and we dont need that. And what about the people who have pets and breed them and sell the offspring. Whether purebred or not people still have their pets to reproduce in order to make a sideline living. Woman you better shut up while your ahead. Your opening a can of worms and they are gonna bite you. Leave it be. If not there will be more cahos than you can imagine if you get this law passed. You think its bad now well have this become a law and you may just see people start killing their animals just in spite. Not everyone is level headed these days. So back off and shut up.

This isn’t about taking away freedoms…this is about the government having to step in and force people to do the right thing because they are either too stupid or too lazy to do it for themselves. Seatbelt law is a perfect example.
Now when they start sterilizing PEOPLE who are too stupid or unfit to have kids,or who can’t afford to support them…that would be taking away freedoms. It would be the smart thing to do,though. Pop out a baby and get government money for 18 years.

Awesome. another one of those pesky freedoms of choice taken away from me. I am so glad she thinks she knows whats best for me and my pet than I do. Maybe she should be the one that gets spayed.
When are people going to STOP exerting their will on everyone else thinking they know whats best for everyone and what choices we need to make. Most people do not get their pets shots much less get them fixed.
Again another person trying to take away the peoples choices and freedoms. I hope they are not dumb enough to pass this.
