Like other Wii games, “Mario Kart Wii” is trying to make the way games are played a little less confusing.
Those familiar with the franchise know that this kart-racing game features all of the lovable characters from the popular “Mario” games, like Luigi, Bowser and Princess Peach.
While the old “Mario Kart” games used thumbsticks in order to play, “Mario Kart Wii” uses only a steering wheel (however, the players can use the older control methods).
Players insert the Wii Remote into the solid white wheel that comes with the game. From there, the player only needs to know how to turn a steering wheel. It’s hard to have road rage in the candy-colored world of the Mushroom Kingdom.
More hardcore gamers will be thrilled to know that “Mario Kart Wii” features extensive online play. As long as you have a high-speed Internet connection, players can jump online and race strangers or friends from all over the world.
Also, players can enter tournaments or even race “ghosts” of record-breaking races from all over the world.
It’s accessible for families too, because all of the technical jargon is consolidated by the Mario Kart Channel, a hub for races, online tournaments and records.
“Mario Kart Wii” retails for $50 and comes with the Wii Wheel. It is rated E for Everyone.
