The Sullivan County Sheriff’s office plans to release more information today about a 10-year-old boy who police say flipped the family car at 90 miles per hour Sunday night with two adults riding shotgun.
Sullivan County Sheriffs say three kids—including the 10-year-old—were inside. They found the car on it’s top, and say a woman was in the car swallowing pills, with a man, who says he drank more than 15 beers.
The crash happened on Flatwoods Road, in the middle of Cherokee National Forest, just off the southern tip of South Holston Lake.
Police charged Randy Lewis with his third DUI and child abuse.
Captain Keith Elton says Lewis admitted to drinking at least 15 beers and liquor before the crash.
The shirt Lewis was wearing ironically reads, “Buy this dad a beer.“
Luckily, police said all three kids are okay.
The woman, Paula Elaine Evans, was released from the hospital last night.
She also faces several charges.

Police responding to the accident found an overturned car, three children and two adults on the scene, according to a report released by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
“The officers noticed that the adult female, Paula Elaine Evans, was standing in the roadway putting as many pills into her mouth as she could and swallowing them. The officers prevented her from taking anymore,” the report stated.
“The adult male, Randy Lewis, appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to consuming at least 15 beers along with liquor,” it stated.
After further investigation of the scene police learned that a 10-year old boy was driving the car at speeds near 90 miles an hour at the time of the wreck, according to the report.

Some of you people don’t really know what we are dealing with. This 10 year old is not bragging about what happen,as a matter of fact he is really embarrassed about the whole thing. How would you feel if you were 10 years old and had something like this happen to you? The childern in their classes are really not that silly. They all know this is a serious thing and they could have all been killed. Give the kids credit so times they are smarter than the adults.

This has nothing to do with this article except Drugs in Our Area…..
Seems to me there is A Judge in this Area who has Drugs Delivered to His Home!!
Now Put that in you’r Pipe and Smoke it!!!
Pay Attention People….. from Parents clear thru any Agency or School System….if you know about it speak up…...do something to Protect Our Children .....
I have watched children stand on the side walk in front of a local high school and smoke pot…...no one around to moniter what they were doing…..still on school grounds, before the year 2000…..
of course things are much worse now…..They tell me its the Mofia…..
Well now some of may be .....some not so!!
Just Pay attention and report…report….report
My child was 3 and just outside our yard picking up used herion needles I sent word to the druggies I would bring that used needle down there and stick um All with it!!!Who knows what jerms were on that thing he had it in his little blue jeans pocket!!!Several in our area have been on drugs, he could hardley get out in the yard to play we were afraid he would get run over by a druggie…. then later came a crack house across the street….I told them All as long as it didnt involve my children we wouldn’t have a problem but if it ever involved them then WE would have A PROBLEM…...The Law couldn’t do anything even tho they knew it was a crack house..even with the needle there was nothing they could do….There seems to be a druggie or Dealer on every corner anymore…they dont use they’re real names, all kinds of tricks they use.
My son is 16 now and All the druggies that have been here on our street are gone we think?
Thank goodness God was riding along the other nite…...He is The Hero for Keeping them all safe!
None of us are any better than the other…. yes it starts with the parents .....some of you just want to act like an educated Fool….as if the rest of us are stupid and un-educated…..you need to grow up and open your eyes!

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS COURT ORDERED VISITATION W/ HIS KIDS HES A WONDERFUL FATHER AND PAYS HIS CHILD SUPPORT. THE MOTHER OF THE CHILDREN IS ON DRUGS SHE HAS NO DRIVER LICENSE WHICH SHE LOST FOR DUI. HE TOLD THE JUDGE ALL OF THIS, LEGALLY SHE CANT DRIVE THOSE TWO KIDS ANYWHERE NOT SCHOOL, THE DOCTOR, OR ANYWHERE ELSE. HE HAS CALLED DHS THEY HAVE BEEN OUT THERE MANY TIMES AND YET SHE GETS TO KEEP THOSE KIDS SHE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO LEAVE THE KIDS WITH ANYONE WHO WILL TAKE THEM AND THE KIDS CALL THEIR DAD WHEN SHES BEEN GONE FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS AND HE GOES AND GETS THEM.THEY CALL HIM AND TELL HIM SHES BEEN ALSEEP FOR DAYS [FYI THESE 2 KIDS ARE ONLY 7 THEY ARE TWINS]. SO IN MY OPINION THE SYSTEM IS A FAILURE. ITS A SHAME THESE KIDS HAVE TO ENDURE THIS OR ANY OTHER CHILD IF THIS DAD TAKES HIS KIDS AND LEAVES THEN HE WILL BE PUT IN JAIL WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT SO EVERYONE LOSES HERE. THE SAD TRUTH IS SOME PARENTS RELY ON THE SYSTEM AND IT FAILS THEM.

(evaningstar) I understand the situation. I have a 5 yr and a 10 yr niece and so therefore i know about the court system and the law…..I know what goes on in the “REAL WORLD” i work everyday out in the world and deal with people on a daily basis and etc. Yes you have to let them go and pray for there safe return and pray that god will be there every moment as they are in the others custody. You have done nothing wrong in reference to children. I know about the DCS and orders and its hard when you go without child support for any amount of time for your children….also i understand that if you disobey the orders what the judge and law has to say about it. I am educated…and i understand completely….been there and understand it as well…so im not at all pointing fingers and etc….GOD BLESS YOU and your family

I don’t think you really do understand the situation. How is this a personal failure for the mother of this child. Would it have been better to scoop the child up, take him away in hiding to prevent the visitations. Is that what you are insinuating? That is the only way you can avoid a court ordered visitation. You have to let them go and pray they return to you in one piece or take them away and risk going to jail yourself when you are caught. Taking away the only safety the child has known. I do not consider anything I have ever done in reference to my child a failure. I am his rock and his stability. Where is the court system or DCS when you go 17 yrs with no child support which was court ordered and you give them his address, work place and phone number. If I disobey a court ordered visitation I go to jail, if they don’t pay court ordered child support they just have more beer money. You are the one that needs educated. You have no clue what is really going on in the “REAL” world.

I understand the situation and people like you and this family needs to stop placing blame on eveyone else and take personal responsibility for your own actions.
Stop blaming everyone else for your own failures.
