Just by looking at Rebecca and Gene Turner’s house along Old Stage Road in Boones Creek, it’s easy to tell this is a family that loves their Labrador Retriever, all three of them. Ask them to pick a favorite and their yellow Labrador Retriever Quincy is top dog, but Quincy died Monday.
“Quincy was more than an animal,“ Rebecca Turner said. “Quincy, I called him my main man. He was my protector.“
Quincy’s owners admit he had enemies, but only because he did what many dogs do. He barked a lot. Still, his owners say that doesn’t mean he deserved a slow, painful death.
“Someone was intentionally trying to kill the animals,“ Washington County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Sam Phillips said.
Phillips now has a case of animal cruelty on his hands. He says over this past weekend, somebody threw a bag full of antifreeze-laced lunch meat into the Turner’s fenced-in yard. A veterinarian identified the contents of that bag as chicken, turkey, and bacon fat, all covered with antifreeze.
“The veterinarian stated there was like three to four pounds of meat that was pulled out of one of the dog’s stomachs,“ Phillips said.
That dog was Quincy. One of the Turner’s other dogs, a Black Labrador Retriever, licked the bag. The Turners just found out today, that Lab will survive. Still, with little to go on, there are currently no suspects in this case. Because of that, the remaining two dogs will now be confined to the Turner’s back porch and their house. Their’ owners say they now live in fear.
“We have to guard the other two every minute,“ Turner said.
This family hopes a good neighbor spotted something suspicious this weekend, so the person responsible will be brought to justice. Investigators feel the same way. They want anyone with information about this case to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at (423) 461-1414.
Investigators also recommend people work to be good neighbors at times in the future, that way these cases will be easier to solve.
“If you see someone in your neighborhood in the day acting suspicious, write down the vehicle number,“ Phillips said. “Write down the tag number.“
Even when investigators arrest somebody for this crime, still, the Turners pain will never go away. After all, Rebecca Turner’s best friend will still be missing.
“I’ll be lost forever,“ Turner said.

I have always had dogs. I have cared for and loved them all. Sometimes they do get irritaing when they bark but i tell mine to shut up and they do. But lets pause for a moment and just say what if a child, a very young child say a year old would have gotten in that bag and ate that before the dog. Kids that age can and do do some odd things. Now we would be talking murder. Of course someone murdered that dog. While they deserve punishment and all they dont deserve 30 years in prison. But if they would have done it to my dog i would be hunting them down now and if i caught them i would lose it and they would be laying down where the dead dog is now. Im sorry for the lose of your dog. Too bad we all cant live on 100 acres away from everyone. And if the guys or gals that did this are reading this i dare you to come to my house and try it. I’ll give you my address and i will be waiting on you with something you dont wanna meet. His name is SMITH and Wesson.

I jumped to conclousions once and thought someone had poisioned my animals with antifreeze.
After embrassing myself with a few people is accidently saw my own vechile was laeking anti freeze. The hot engine idoit light was not working and my thermostat was stuck causing my engine to over heat and spew antifreeze down that tude.
The anti freeze has a sweet taste for animals.
Make sure you are not the one causeing harm before accusing others.

Everyone of you is right, forgive me for speaking without having the entire story. In my defense, when I logged on early yesterday morning, there was only a little blurp, no video, no details. I even went through all the stories to find that blurp but this has to be it, it has been updated. So to all concerned, forgive me, I spoke out of turn and am not too proud to admit when I am wrong. But isn’t it true that we do see so many pets running loose, to their endangerment and the detriment of the neighborhood? I just leapt to conclusions, as many of us sometimes do. If this were to happen to our companion, our little dog, I would be devastated. Anyway, I don’t think I will ever respond to one of these stories until later in the day, when all updates have been posted. Good to know that so many are paying attention!!

Responding to “nuff said”. If you read the article again closely, you will see that the bag of food was tossed INTO THE FENCED IN YARD for the dogs to get. Satan is trying to get his foot in anywhere and any way he can.

What part of the Turner’s fenced in yard didn’t you understand. That tells me they were on they’re own property nurd boy….....I think God should have put more dogs in the world and less humans because dogs are smarter than some humans. I think this was very cruel even if the dogs were running loose there were better ways to handle the situation.

First of all, no blame should be put on anyone unless you know the facts. So many people can’t stand dogs because they bark. I have 2 myself and have had complaints because of the barking. That is there way of communicating with other dogs or their owners. The owners would know if their dogs were loose somewhere. And yes….it does happen sometimes. There is no sense in this act! If you want my opinion they should do the same thing to the person at fault. Let them see what it feels like to be that sick!

I think they were being pretty responsible, their dog was in a fenced in yard!

I happen to know this family personally and can assure you that the dogs are very well loved and faithfully looked after. They were and are always in their own back yard where they are expected to be safe and secure. They are never allowed to just roam around loose. The person or persons responsible for this atrocity did indeed have to inavade the property to commit this crime and obviously should be considered evil and dangerous.
