BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. – Allegiant Airlines will resume its non-stop flights between Tri-Cities Regional Airport and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Nov. 22, Allegiant officials announced on Wednesday.

Allegiant started offering the flights on Dec. 12, but cancelled the service on Sept. 5 due to high fuel costs. The service was one of Tri-Cities’ most popular flights, airport officials said, with its planes 94 percent full on flights going to and coming from Fort Lauderdale.

Allegiant President and CEO Maurice Gallagher noted this popularity in a news release, saying “persistent and persuasive community efforts” were behind his company’s decision to restore the service.

The new flights will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tickets will cost $69 through an introductory offer that is good only for travel booked by Oct. 15 for flights from Nov. 21 to Nov. 25, Dec. 2 to Dec. 19, and Jan. 6 to Feb. 5.

Tickets will cost $79 when this introductory rate expires. Neither ticket price includes airport passenger facility charges, a $10.50 Sept. 11 security fee, or other charges such as convenience fees.

Allegiant has offered non-stop service from Tri-Cities to Orlando, Fla., since May 2007. Last week, company officials announced the start on Nov. 20 of service to the Tampa Bay region’s St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.
