BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. – Guitarist Muriel Anderson returns to Northeast State Technical Community College on June 27 to perform a free concert of original music and teach a free workshop for guitar pickers learning the craft.
Anderson performs instrumental works from Irish reels to Japanese Koto music to The Beatles. Her most recent CDs, “Wildcat” and “Harp Guitar Christmas,” showcase her as a musician, composer and vocalist.
Anderson will conduct the workshop from 2-4 p.m. at the Northeast State Auditorium of the college’s main campus, 2425 Highway 75, adjacent to Tri-Cities Regional Airport.
She will give basic guitar lessons for guitar players from beginners to seasoned players. Workshop attendees are encouraged to bring their own guitars to learn from the musician that the legendary Les Paul says “plays the guitar like we all wish to play.”
A native of Illinois, Anderson was raised in a musical family. She is the first woman to win the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship. She is host of “Muriel Anderson’s All-Star Guitar Night” and founder of the Music for Life Alliance charity.
The evening concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Northeast State Auditorium.
