Toyota has donated $1 million and three Prius Hybrid vehicles to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The donation is the largest single gift ever made to the country’s most-visited national park. It will fund environmental and cultural education programs for students and families.

Officials of the national park and Toyota hope the programs will help children form a better connection with the outdoors and encourage them to think about careers in science.

The donation was one of five made by Toyota to various national parks in honor of the carmaker’s 50th anniversary in the U.S.

Biggest Donation? Doesn’t Dolly Pardon live in the smokies? With her park “Dollywood” there. Surely she isn’t going to let a motor vehicle company out donate her!!

This is fantastic!
It’s a shame none of the big-three auto makers have nothing to brag about.
The glut of gas-guzzlers promoted by the Bush tax-incentive for 6,000lbs.
vehicles has helped create our gas price problems along with GM’s willingness to produce same guzzlers.  Why didn’t domestic auto makers respond in the 19-seventies
when they could have started?
Now they can die or go bank-rupt!
