Carter County residents are bracing for a property tax hike.
County leaders are expected to decide on the measure as early as next week.
The county will use the money to build a new 300 bed correctional facility.
Commissioners voted in April to spend no more than $26 million on the project.
The current tax rate $2.10 would increase by 14 cents.
The budget committee suggested the amount that should make it’ way to the full commission.
The full commission will vote on it at a meeting on Monday.
