BRISTOL, Tenn. — Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer has a long history with Bristol Motor Speedway — and he’s adding some new chapters, from serving as a co-grand marshal of Sunday’s race with University of Tennessee coach Butch Jones to the Battle at Bristol football game scheduled for 2016.

“We came down when we were in high school about the ninth or 10th grade,” Beamer said Sunday, just after Bristol Motor Speedway announced that Food City, the sponsor of Sunday’s race, would also be a sponsor of the game between Virginia Tech and UT that will be played on the speedway infield.
