ABINGDON, Va. -- Some of those helping to map out Washington County’s comprehensive plan -- the community’s blueprint for the next two decades -- will be in their 30s when it’s time to write a new one.
The youngest members of the plan’s advisory group are local high school students who have for the past few months been mulling over what to do to preserve the county’s agricultural industry, keep young families in the community and aid the county’s aging population in the years to come.
