Lawmakers: Obama administration exaggerating sequestration effects

While there will be noticeable cuts in federal spending beginning Friday as part of "sequestration" – a system of automatic, across-the-board budget reductions triggered by the impasse between Republican congressional lawmakers and Democratic President Barack Obama – the area's two GOP congressmen suggested Wednesday that the Obama administration might be exaggerating its effects to score political points.

"I absolutely do think they will take effect Friday," Tennessee's 1st District Congressman Phil Roe said regarding the estimated $85 billion in "sequestration" budget cuts.
