“The Exquisite Butterfly Companion: The Science and Beauty of 100 Butterflies” by Hazel Davies, is part of a boxed set that comes with 100 punch-out paper butterflies and is finished off with a gauzy ribbon.

The book begins with an introduction which tells us that in the Middle Ages butterflies were believed to be fairies come to steal milk and butter. The Old English word buttorfleoge is made up of the words for “butter” and “fly” and may have arisen from this notion of the insects being fairies.
