Former Sullivan County Highway Commissioner Allan Pope can still appeal his felony conviction to the state Supreme Court, county attorney Dan Street told the County Commission on Monday.

A jury convicted Pope of fraud and professional misconduct charges in 2010. A judge suspended Pope from public office after the conviction, and commissioners appointed Terry Shaffer interim highway commissioner.
