Part beautification project, part fundraiser and part celebration of Appalachian Trail heritage, an effort is underway in Damascus, Virginia, to repave sidewalks downtown along the path of the AT. And the project will include commemorative bricks purchased by donors.

A total of 2,180 bricks — one for every mile along the trail — are available for individuals and companies to purchase and engrave with their name, their trail name or company name, said Brady Adcock, project manager.
